Why Your Content Isn’t Bringing in Coaching Clients

clarity coaching content

I was talking with a coach recently who felt very frustrated about her content.

She told me she was posting regularly, sharing helpful ideas, and trying to show up consistently online… but she wasn’t getting the response she hoped for. No new conversations were starting, and very few people were reaching out to ask about coaching.

She finally asked me a question that I hear quite often.

“Jen, what am I doing wrong?”

The interesting thing is that many coaches assume the problem must be the content itself. They think they need to post more often, learn new marketing strategies, or try a different platform.

But more often than not, the issue isn’t the amount of content.

It’s the clarity behind it.

When your niche and message aren’t fully clear yet, your content tends to feel a little scattered. One day you might talk about confidence, another day communication, another day relationships, and then something about mindset. Each post may be helpful on its own, but it can be hard for your audience to understand exactly who you help and what problem you solve.

From their perspective, it feels a little like listening to many different conversations at once.

Inside the Club, we talk a lot about something called O.F.T.™, which stands for One F*cking Thing™.

The idea is simple. When coaches feel overwhelmed or stuck in their business, it’s usually because they are trying to focus on too many things at the same time. They’re creating content for several different audiences, exploring multiple ideas for programs, and trying to cover every topic they feel passionate about.

But when you slow down and focus on one thing, something interesting begins to happen.

Your message becomes clearer, your content becomes easier to create, and the people who need your help start recognizing themselves in what you are saying.

Instead of trying to speak to everyone, you begin speaking directly to the people you most want to help. When they read your posts or listen to you talk about your work, they start to think, “That sounds like me.”

That moment of recognition is what often leads someone to reach out and start a conversation about coaching.

So if your content isn’t bringing in clients yet, it may not be a sign that you need to work harder or post more often.

It may simply be a sign that your niche and message need a little more clarity.

Sometimes the most powerful step forward in a coaching business is choosing one thing to focus on for a while, and that’s exactly what O.F.T.™ is about.
